Hicksville CC from Long Island NY will be visiting Danbury this Sunday Oct 16th for a match at 1pm. Old friends, and winners of the first ever tournament back in July 2001 are coming off a great season in the Commonwealth Division B League, where they were the T20 champions. Danbury will need to step up their game

Hillside Cricket Club from Queens NY will be visiting Danbury for the weekend to play 2 matches this weekend. Danbury is prepared to host both matches, and we have 12-13 players available for each match. Great stuff from the team, shows our depth and a few of the guys are playing both days even! Good Luck, Saturday's match will begin approx 1230 and Sundays match will begin approx 130. Both will be played in the traditional White clothing and Red Ball !!

Congratulations to the Under 30 team for winning the first Over 30 vs Under 30 Series. They are the champions and will look to defend the Cup next season from the Over 30 guys. Their team is young, mostly under 25 and will be practicing hard over the off season to ensure they keep the Cup next season. Man of the Match was Farooq Akhtar for his solid batting at the end along with newcomer Umar Shafqat as their partnership was too much for the Over 30 guys. Under 30 were asked to bowl in cloudy and tough conditions for the batsman and they did well to restrict the Over 30 to only 94 from 21 overs. Rizve Ahmed and Atif Zafar batted well in the innings, but it wasnt enough as Under 30 remained firm under pressure and took the series! Some great bowling in the series overall from Adeel Syed, Abid Zafar, Mazaharul Islam, some great fielding from Farooq Akhtar, Saqib Zafar, Rizve Ahmed, great wicket keeping by Ariful Islam and Sathya Singh. Great knocks in the series as well from Atif Zafar, Rizve Ahmed, Mirza Shah, Abid Zafar, Saqib Zafar, Farooq Akhtar, Mazaharul Islam, Muhammed Adeel, and overall a great CLUB effort, in the end .. Danbury Cricket Club was the winner of course !!

Due to weather, we have rescheduled the Grand Opening of the Cricket Batting Cage, and our Final match of the Over 30 vs Under 30 series. Saturday October 1st @ 12pm.

Sat Sep 24th will be the Grand Opening of the Cricket Batting Nets @ 12pm followed by the Final of the Over 30 vs Under 30 Inter Squad Match. Join us @ Broadview !!

So Phase 1 of the project is complete. It was backbreaking stuff.... and for many of us we were fasting, and just watching during the hot day was very difficult. Of course we didnt just stand around, so all of us put a few hours of effort in each...

The match wicket now has fresh clay on it and it will be raised above the grass level, and the pracitce pitch is also grass level.

Next step is to rent the 2 Ton Commerical Roller and roll both wickets as much as possible over a weekend. Check out the Multimedia section for the pics from today !!

Clay will be delivered on Monday Aug 8th and pitch work will start. The current pitch will be relaid with new clay, raising the level about 1.5 inches. The batting pitch will be dug and laid with clay about 5 inches thick in total, a half pitch for purposes of the batting cage/nets.

We will allow 3-4 weeks for the 2 pitches to dry up so they are nice and solid and ready to play. Phase 2 will be early September once the Bating Nets company is ready to install.  Stay tuned...

The Danbury Parks and Rec department has verbally approved our project for an outdoor Batting Nets on the cricket field. This will be a monumental achievement for Danbury Cricket Club in its 10th year, and also will make DCC the first club in the tri-state area to have a permanent batting nets pitch. The setup will be identical to what professional cricketers use in England and Asian countries, and we will use the same clay/pitch and matting that is used on the regular pitch.

This Sunday July 17th will be the rematch between our Under 30 and Over 30 teams. The Over 30 will be looking to redeem themselves and come back with a serious mindset and bring the series level. Match will start 12pm sharp, 30 overs. Winners get to brag at the wedding in town on Sunday night ! Come show your support !!
